A Little Shop in a Little Country...
David Baker is now filling orders on SUP Paddles in his shop in Chiriqui, Panama.
All paddles made to your specific shaft length, blade and hand grip design, and use (hard core Surf, Paddling/Race/Rec, or All-Around)....all glued up with West Systems Epoxy and 3 coats of brush on UV resistant Marine Spar Varnish, with no fiberglass, I have yet to have a paddle break, with normal local paddling and surfing use. If you're good/gutsy enough to use my paddles at Teahupoo in Tahiti, The Wedge in Ca, or Pipeline, or similar surf spots, we can talk breakage guarantee!
Sorry, no resin/fiberglass here. If you like, I can sell you an unfinished paddle, faired/foiled finer, ready for a glass job on your end. Please remember, as I cannot read minds, the more input I can get from you on your paddle order, the greater the chance I’ll be able to make you happy. 10% off paddle price for the unvarnished wood.
My paddles are very light at low 20s ounces weight, springy/flexible and tough. They are made, in different combinations, from the great local tropical woods we have here such as Black Laurel, various Cedars, Teak, Melina, Camibar, White Roble, Mora, with just a hit of Cristobal, Ron Ron, or similar hard pretty tropical wood at the handgrip.
